When it comes to designing our master bathrooms, we oftentimes limit ourselves to the basics: tile, cabinets, countertops, lighting, plumbing fixtures, paint color, etc. However, there is one element that will elevate any master bathroom design beyond these core elements – heated floors!

Bathrooms are notorious for their cold floors, but your design doesn’t have to fall to this standard! With heated floors, you can positively impact your senses with a warm and cozy feeling underfoot. Despite the outdoor climate, radiant heat can be the element that transforms your otherwise rudimentary space into one of luxury and complete comfortability.

Due to its luxurious essence, most people not only forget about radiant heat, but assume that it will break the bank. However, the truth is that it can turn out to be one of the most affordable items in your master bathroom’s design. Such an addition, though, needs to be considered and prepared for early in the design process, as it will be installed during the construction phase. Unlike other design decisions that can be updated and changed after the design and construction phases, heated floors must be decided before the time your floors are laid.

Radiant heat can be placed under tile, stone, marble, hardwood, and luxury vinyl floors. This product can be installed simply to warm your floor and add underfoot comfort or as an additional heating source for your space. In addition, it can be installed in a multitude of precise ways, whether you’re wanting to heat all areas of your floor or in a straight run in the places you walk most often. There are many variables to consider and discuss to achieve your desired space, and radiant floors should be one of them!

Radiant floor heating isn’t only for interior or bathroom designs, either! WarmlyYours is a brand that offers floor heating, snow melting, roof and gutter deicing, pipe freezing protection, and radiant panels. I have this product installed in my own master bathroom as well as in my three-seasons room. Living in the Midwest, our three-seasons’ heated flooring extends the number of days my family and I can enjoy this space during the year!

As you identify the specific products for your master bathroom design, consider using radiant heating under your floors or even under your shower bench seat! It’s always about selecting items that will successfully create a space you can enjoy for years to come!
