Tailored Spaces was built on the belief that a beautiful life should never come at the expense of the people living it.

For years, I poured my heart into the kitchen and bath industry. I loved helping clients transform their homes and create spaces where memories would be made for years to come. But as my career grew, so did my desire to build something different. I wanted to create a company that valued both professional excellence and personal fulfillment.

As a wife, mother of three, and business owner, I understand firsthand the challenge of balancing career ambitions with family life. I believe success should not require sacrificing the moments that matter most. The school programs. The family dinners. The vacations. The ordinary afternoons that become the memories we cherish forever.

That belief became the foundation of Tailored Spaces.

I envisioned a company where talented women could build meaningful careers while still having the flexibility to show up for their families and themselves. A place where education is encouraged, growth is celebrated, and team members are empowered to reach their full potential. Whether that means attending national design conferences, pursuing continuing education, earning certifications, or simply having the support needed to navigate life's seasons, our team is encouraged to grow personally and professionally.

Meet the Principal Designer

Ever since I could walk, I've loved to create, collect, organize, and design. My passion for interior design began at a young age and ultimately inspired me to start my own business, Tailored Spaces.

From spending time in my aunt's drapery workroom as a budding designer to building a career specializing in kitchen and bath cabinetry design, I'e always had an eye for detail. Today, my passion lies in creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional, balancing comfort, enjoyment, and everyday practicality.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus in Interior Design from the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg and bring more than 25 years of experience in the kitchen and bath industry. I believe great design begins with understanding the people who will live in it. That's why I take the time to truly get to know my clients, their lifestyles, and their vision before developing a tailored design solution that reflects who they are.

I don't shy away from new experiences. Instead, I embrace them. Whether through travel, life experiences, or meeting people from different backgrounds, I've found that every experience broadens my perspective and strengthens my ability to connect with clients and understand their unique needs.

My story is a classic case of city girl meets farm boy. While my husband sees beauty in semi-trucks and dairy cattle, I see it in architecture, interiors, and thoughtful design. Together, we've built a wonderful life on a working farm, raising our three children among dairy cows, pigs, and plenty of daily adventures. Country life has taught me to appreciate both simplicity and functionality, lessons that influence my design work every day.

Travel is another lifelong passion of mine. I've explored more than 35 countries, including an unforgettable backpacking adventure overseas. Experiencing different cultures, architecture, and design styles from around the world has deepened my appreciation for the beauty found in both grand spaces and everyday details.

I love visual texture, mixing materials, thoughtful organization, and uncovering one-of-a-kind finds that bring character and authenticity to a space. My goal is always to create interiors that feel personal and meaningful, reflecting the unique style and personality of each client.

That passion for design, vintage treasures, and curated living inspired Varnished Velvet by Tailored Spaces, my retail storefront located within the historic Starline Factory Excursion Market in Harvard, Illinois. What began as years of reluctantly accompanying my parents on antique-hunting adventures has evolved into one of my favorite weekend activities. Today, the market is filled with pieces and products that reflect everything I love about home, design, and storytelling through spaces.
